Week 14 Saturday’s Match Results

DSK Shivajians recorded their biggest win on Saturday with a 5-0 victory over Mumbai FC at Balewadi Stadium in the Maharashtra derby.

Holicharan Narzary kicked started the home side’s lead with a brace in the 15th and 27th minute. The first goal was adjudged to have crossed the line after the ball cannoned off Sumeet Passi, who had inadvertently strayed into the Mumbai goal but the referee awarded the goal.

Sanju Pradhan secured a third goal just after the break from a Juan Quero assist, ramming the ball into the bottom right hand corner. Lallianzuala Chhangte caught on to a stray Mumbai pass, ran 30 yards to goal and smashed the ball into the left-hand side of the post in the 69th minute.

The final and fifth goal came from Jerry Mawihmingthanga who made no mistake in the 86th minute. The result saw DSK sit in seventh spot and Mumbai tenth.

Meanwhile Aizawl FC failed to consolidate their position at the top of the Hero I-league standings by jeopardizing a two-goal lead to share the spoils with Minerva Punjab, after their 2 -2 draw at the Guru Nanak stadium in Ludhiana.

Mahmoud Al-Amna opened the scoring for the visitors just before half time and Lalthakimo doubled the lead in the 56th minute.

But the hosts came from behind to grab one back in the 61st minute through Loveday before a freekick from Kareem Nurain in the 81st minute ensured the home team a point. Minerva sit in ninth spot of the I-league table.

During the other Saturday match Bengaluru FC and Mohun Bagan played out a goalless draw at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

Although a goalless match, it wasn’t without drama, with Mohun having a clear goal disallowed and the official turning a blind eye to Bengaluru’s Sunil Chhetri who looked to have been shoved in the box.

The result saw Mohun Bagan remain in third spot, while Bengaluru sit in fifth.
