Shillong Lajong have had their second straight win of the season, after their fifth round Hero I-League match against Mumbai FC ended in a 3-1 victory, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Saturday,
Dipanda Dicka gave the homeside the breakthrough in the 28th minute before making it a brace 3 minutes before half time. His first goal came after Isaac Vanmalswama took a free kick swinging a delightful ball towards the post, which Dipanda shot past Laxmikant Kattimani, giving him no chance.
Super-sub Karan Sawhney pulled one back in the 56th minute after some woeful defending from Shillong, going against the run of play, he converted from close range.
Chinglensana Singh Konsham took advantage of confusion in the box from a corner to seal the tie for the hosts.
The win took Shillong to the fifth spot of the league table, while Mumbai slipped to sixth.
Saturday’s other match ended in 2-0 win for Chennai City against Aizawl FC at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai.
The debutants notched up their maiden I-League victory of the 2016-17 season, but for the Mizoram-based outfit, it was their first loss of the season.
Robin Charles Raja made two changes to the Chennai City lineup that had played good strong football against Mohun Bagan despite a defeat, bringing in Darren Caldeira and Abhra Mondal.
