Shandong Taishan History

Shandong Taishan were formed on April 10, 1956 and turned professional on December 2, 1993. This made them one of the founding members of the first fully professional league in China.

The majority of their history has been spent in the top division, and they have not been relegated since they turned professional. They took their first league title in 1999, winning by only one point.

Since the introduction of the Chinese Super League in 2004, Shandong Taishan have won the title four times – in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2021. They won the league by six points in 2021 after the local leagues merged after 14 games. They only lost twice all season and their victory was built around a solid defense.

The team have won the Chinese FA Cup seven times during their history, which is more than any other side, demonstrating their strong affinity with the competition. In fact, during the last four seasons, they have finished as the runners-up or overall winners. They are the reigning holders, having beaten Shanghai Port 1-0 in 2021. Brazilian Jadson scored the winning goal in the final.
