NorthEast Utd, Atletico de Kolkata & Delhi Dynamos Win Matches 4 5 & 6 Of ISL

NorthEast United have had their second win in two matches to see them surge ahead at the top of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) table with 6 points.

The John Abraham-owned side took on FC Goa, one of the favourites of the competition at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday evening, going into the match with confidence following their victory over Kerala Blasters.

It was the first time in three seasons NorthEast had beat FC Goa, helped by Uruguayan striker Emiliano Alfaro who scored a brace, one of which Goa goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani unluckily deflected into his own goal in the 20th minute.

Northeast’s lead was doubled in the 62nd minute after Alfaro slotted the ball home with a brilliant flick pass from Holicharan Narzary, giving off a strong indication of the team’s determination to go far this season.

When the Kerala Blasters played Atletico de Kolkata last season, it was an entertaining match that produced a 3-2 score to the visitors. This new campaigns encounter on Wednesday night saw the visitors edge past the homeside 1-0 at Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium once again.

Spanish dynamite Javier Lara scored the sole goal of the game for former champions ATK in the 53rd minute to give them their first victory of the tournament and full points.

Delhi Dynamos won their first game of the season with a 3-1 win away to Chennaiyin, at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium on Thursday.

The visitors Brazilian winger Marcelo Pereira, better known as Marcelinho, opened the scoring with the first goal of a brace in the 26th minute but 6 minutes later and Dudu Omagbemi had equalised.

But it wasn’t long before Marcelinho put his side back in the lead in the 34th minute, while Delhi Badji put the icing on the cake with six minutes left on the clock giving the Dynamos their victory.
