Ittihad Kalba (known as ‘The Tigers’) is a professional football club that plays in the UAE Pro League. This club’s home ground is Ittihad Kalba Stadium, which houses a total of 8,500 supporters.
The players wear yellow and black for their home matches. The team’s away colors are red, black, and yellow. Former Uruguayan striker Jorge Da Silva is the current team’s head coach.
In 1962, Ittihad Kalba Football Club was established in the little city of Kalba. At the time, the club was known as Al Shabab Sports Club. However, there was some confusion as many clubs in the town had similar names. In 1971, Al Shabab entered into a merger agreement with Al Rooba, and Ittihad Kalba was formed. Ittihad Kalba became the exclusive sports club representing the city of Kalba.
The team started in the second division, winning the 1979/1980 edition. They went on to finish top of UAE Division One six additional times, the most recent being the 2013/2014 season. The highest they have reached in the President’s Cup in the quarter-finals, which was in the 2019-2020 season. The team has spent a total of 13 seasons in the UAE Pro League. However, they have not finished top of the UAE Pro League table yet. They have finished bottom of the table four times.
Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi is the club president. Along with his vice president Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, he introduced a number of policies and strategies to improve the club’s performance in competitions. Top players in the club include Mohammed Sabeel and Robert Žulj.
Jorge Da Silva joined Ittihad Kalba in October 2019, after he was hired out of the Colombian football club América de Cali.
