ISL Match Day 7 Results

Match Day 7 of the Indian Super League was played out over the Christmas period starting on Saturday 23rd December in a match that saw FC Goa beaten 0-2 by FC Pune City at home.

Goa failed to capitalise on their first-half chances, leaving strikes from Emiliano Alfaro and Jonatan Lucca to seal full points for Ranko Popovic’s side.

Robbie Keane struck late in the second half of the other Saturday match, to help two-time champions Atletico de Kolkata pip Delhi Dynamos 1-0 to give them their first home win of the season.

A hard fought match at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Thursday 28th December saw Chennaiyin emerge with a 1-0 victory over Jamshedpur.

Jamshedpur dominated proceedings for the entirety of the first half as they won the midfield battles comfortably to keep Chennaiyin under control

But it was a 41st-minute spot-kick conversion from Jeje Lalpekhlua that gave John Gregory’s Chennaiyin FC all 3 points.

Mumbai City Fc defeated Delhi Dynamos FC 4-0 at the Mumbai Football Arena in Mumbai on Friday 29th December, the result seeing them jump temporarily to second on the ISL table.

Both sides were reduced to 10-men in the 45th minute after red cards were flashed to Sehnaj Singh and Claudio Mathias.

The hosts had a bright start to the game, grabbing the lead in the 12th minute from skipper Lucian Goian’s strike from a rebound.

The lead was doubled 3 minutes from halftime after Everton Santos jumped the highest. They registered their third goal through Thiago Santos who got his name on the scoresheet in the 49th minute, before Balwant Singh put the icing on the cake in the 78th minute.

On Saturday Brazilian striker Marcelinho produced a superb hat-trick to help hand Pune City a 5-0 victory over NorthEast United at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium.

Ashique Kuruniyan scored an early goal and Adil Khan sealed the deal in the 88th minute.
