Group B Federation Cup Match Results

A ten-man Shillong Lajong registered their first victory in the ongoing Hero Federation Cup on Friday, beating DSK Shivajians 3-2 at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack.

Dave Rogers chose a young side with as many as six U-22 players featuring in the squad. Dsk started off on a positive note dominating possession, but during the first 45 minutes, neither of the sides had managed to finish off their chances.

The second half was action packed with the opener being scored 4 minutes in through Alen Deory, with his first goal in a senior competition. Holicharan Narzary equalised for DSK, scoring the first of a brace in the 64th minute.

Lajong’s lead was restored 4 minutes later through Redeem Tlang, but a short while later the side were down to 10 men after Vishal Kaith was sent off in the 75th minute.

Narzary once again put DSK ahead scoring the second of his brace in the 86th minute after his peach of a shot from distance went straight into the top corner.

Samuel Lalmuanpuia scored in the dying seconds of the game (90+2′) to give the Shillong outfit their first win.

Meanwhile the other match at the Barabati Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw between defending champions Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC.

The match got off to a cagey start as both sides probed each other for weaknesses, with Bengaluru scoring first in the12th minute after Alwyn George cut in from the right flank and released a shot which beat Debjit Majumder on the near post.

This was cancelled out by Sony Norde in the 50th minute, after beating Khabra with his trickery, he beat Amrinder with a low angled shot towards the far corner.
