FC Goa Hand Delhi Dynamos 4th Successive Defeat With 5-1 Thrashing

FC Goa handed Delhi Dynamos their fourth successive defeat with a 5-1 thrashing in their Indian Super League encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Saturday.

Their impressive run scoring 18 goals in five matches has landed them at the top of the ISL ladder, after leapfrogging Bengaluru at the end of Match Day 5. Coral 50/1 for a Premier League goal to be scored

The Gaurs have conceded a goal in each of their matches, but coach Sergio Lobera assured that it is just a matter of time before the club can get their first clean-sheet of the season.

“We have scored 18 goals in five games so I think that’s worth talking about. I’d rather talk about that than the defence. The defence was good tonight and we continue to work on it. It will get better with each passing match and very soon we should have our clean-sheet in the next few games,” said Lobera.

The Gaurs opened the scoring just before the break. Leading goal scorer of the tournament, Ferran Corominas scored first, tapping the ball into the net after Delhi goalkeeper Sukhdev Patil fumbled a long free-kick into the box by Manuel Lanzarote.

Delhi conceded again immediately after the restart. Having contributed to the first goal, Lanzarote smashed in a 30-yard curler to double the advantage for Lobera’s side, just before the referee blew the whistle for half-time.

After starting the second half brightly, Delhi pulled one back on the hour mark, after Jeroen Lumu waits and plays a perfectly timed through-ball for Romeo Fernandes inside the box, who crosses accurately into the centre for Kalu Uche to tap in!

A lunging effort to stop a low cross ended up in Pritam Kotal own net in the 84th minute, opening the floodgates for FC Goa who hit two more goals to stun the home fans, with substitute Adrian Colunga and Arana Rodríguez getting their names on the scoresheet in the 85th and 87th minute.
