Chengdu Rongcheng History

The club were formed in 2018 by Chengdu Better City Investment Group due to the collapse of Chengdu Qbao.

Initially, the club was filled with players from the dissolved Chengdu Qbao club and from youth teams from around the area. The club started in China’s lowest division and worked their way through to Chinese League One. Last season, the team finished fourth and got into the playoffs, where they defeated Chinese Super League team Dalian Pro 2-1 on aggregate. After a first leg that ended 1-1, it was Chengdu Rongcheng forward Ruofan Liu who scored the historic goal, capping off a monumental rise that few fans could scarcely believe had happened.

Chengdu Rongcheng face a huge challenge in trying to stay in the division this year and will be hoping to defy the odds.
