Atletico de Kolkata continued their unbeaten track record in this years third edition of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL), with a 1-0 defeat over Delhi Dynamos at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium on Saturday.
Neither of the two unbeaten teams were able to unlock the deadlock in the first half, Dynamos particularly unable to convert from a slew of chances. But the game changed in the second half.
Atletico were down to 10 men in the 72nd minute after Henrique Sereno was sent off for bringing down Richard Gadze. Marcelo Pereira took the spot kick but it was cleared from the goalline by Das.
Less than a minute later and Atletico had also secured a penalty through Sameehg Doutie, Unlike Dynamos, Atletico did not miss with Ian Hulme giving his side the lead to make him the top goal scorer of the ISL this season and give his side their first win over Delhi Dynamos in ISL history.
Sunday’s match between FC Pune City and Chennaiyin FC ended in a 1-1 draw at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium.
Even with chief coach Antonio Habas back in the dugout after a four-match suspension, Pune were unable secure a win after their worst start to the ISL since it’s inception.
Jeje Lalpekhlua who had been relegated to the bench in the previous two matches, put the defending champions ahead in the 28th minute, after winning the ball from Pune defender Eduardo Ferreira, to cap it off with a perfect lob over out of position goalkeeper Edel Bete.
Pune had to wait to the 82nd minute for the equaliser that came from a neatly taken free-kick from just outside the box from Anibal Rodriguez, that sailed past a diving Chennaiyin goalkeeper Duwayne Kerr.
FC Pune City had to be content with just one point against a disciplined Chennaiyin outfit.
