Al Orooba is a football team that play their trade in the UAE Pro League. With their logo and jerseys both prominently green in color, they are referred to as the ‘Green Duo’. Al Sharqi Stadium is the ground for Al Orooba’s home matches. Although the stadium’s capacity doesn’t compare favorably with other top teams in the UAE Pro League, it can hold a total of 3,000 fans when there’s a full house.
The club hosts matches in several other local grounds, including Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Stadium (5,537) and Saqr bin Mohammad al Qassimi Stadium (7,500). The team also plays at the larger Fujairah Stadium, which has a capacity of 10,645.
Al Orooba players wear a predominantly green home kit. For away matches, the players wear a mix of green and black colors. The team’s head coach, Fathi Al-Obeidi, was appointed in 2021.
Al Orooba has been on the scene since their inception in 1972. However, their history dates back to 1960, when two individual clubs, Al Wehda and Al Najma, were founded. Al Orooba is located in Fujairah, in the cities of Qidfa and Mirbah, home to the aforementioned clubs.
Al Orooba was promoted to the famous UAE Pro League in 2021 after defeating Dhaid and finishing first in the UAE Division One League. Unlike most teams in the UAE Pro League, Al Orooba players have always been predominantly local. Only a few foreign players from Brazil and Qatar have made the team.
The team have only recently entered the UAE Pro League. As such, they have not won any championship titles yet. The club’s president is Khalifa Rashid Al-Mallahi, and top players include Saeed Obaid, Khalid Yahya, Fawzi Fayez, and Rédah Atassi.
