Al-Nasr Information

Al-Nasr, which translates as ‘Victory’, is the first and oldest team currently playing in the UAE Pro League. The club has four league titles to their name and a few other notable cups in their cabinet.

The team currently ply their trade at Al Maktoum Stadium, an exquisite sports center for football and other sporting events. In 2019, the stadium was upgraded to meet FIFA standards as part of the preparations for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. It holds up to 15,058 spectators.

Al-Nasr has played host to several notable football clubs, including Liverpool and Arsenal of the English Premier League and Brazilian club Santos. Al-Nasr’s home kit colors are blue and white, while away matches are played in a white and black kit. At the time of writing, the role of the manager is being carried out by Salem Busamah. However, the team is yet to appoint a new head coach after the departure of manager Ramón Díaz.

Al-Nasr History

Al-Nasr was started in 1945 by a group of young men on a plot of land owned by Mohammed Ali Zainal. Three years later, the idea to form a professional team was initiated. The club was first known as Al Ahli until they lost to Doha-based Al Ahli in Qatar. After the defeat, the new name, Al-Nasr, was proposed and adopted.

Al-Nasr featured in the UAE Pro League in 1974 after starting the construction of their modern sports complex. They were one of the original UAE Pro League teams and hold a total of three league titles. They are four-time winners of the UAE President’s Cup and three-time winners of the Arabian Gulf Cup, among other cup trophies.

Al-Nasr has had several star players who have left their mark on the club, including Salim Bushenin, Awad Mubarak, and Ahmed Khorsheed. The club is chaired by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance.
