Kerala Blasters have managed just seven points in seven games and sit 7th on the Indian Super League (ISL) table, after being defeated 1-3 to Goa FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday.
It was a disappointing result for the Blasters, having hoped to bounce back in front of their home crowd from their previous 2-1 loss to Bengaluru, but their attack in this match lacked edge and their defence was leaky, giving Goa the time and space on the ball they needed to put three past Blasters.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 11th minute after they got a corner that was headed back out of the box. Jahouh received the ball and floated it back into the box with Corominas making no mistake to guide it in with a header. He completed a brace just before halftime to double the lead.
The 3rd Goal was scored in the 67th minute after Manvir Singh headers home. Blasters’ scored a goal to reduce the deficit in extra time through Nikola Krcmarevic.
The result left the Blasters fans dejected and frustrated, after getting off to a similar start last season under Rene Meulensteen.
“We have a really good team this season. David James has failed as a coach so far. We don’t know if it’s his tactics or that of the assistant coach but it has been a failure. He is a good motivator and could bring the team together but as a coach, he has not met the expectations,” a member of Manjappada fan group and one of their social media manager Manu Prathap told Goal.
“In my opinion, this is my favourite Blasters ‘team’ from five seasons. We have a lot of youngsters, fully fit players and experienced ones like Cyril Kali. Change the coach, keep the team and develop these players. I am not disappointed with the signings,” he added.
