Jamshedpur Move To Top After 2-2 Defeat Of Delhi Dynamos

Jamshedpur FC have moved to the summit of the 2018-19 Indian Super League (ISL) table after a 2-2  draw with Delhi Dynamos at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday.

The Dynamos who without a win remain rooted to the 8th position with four points from seven games.

Jamshedpur scored first in the 39th minute through Sergio Cidoncha after Rene Mihelic’s free-kick at the other end was cleared towards Gaurav Mukhi, who surged forward towards an outnumbered Delhi defence and laid the ball for Cidoncha who applied the finishing touch.

Delhi were level within 10 minutes of the second half after a dreadful error from Robin Gurung, whose poor back pass was duly intercepted by a surging Lallianzuala Chhangte who made no mistake after skipping past Subrata Paul.

The hosts then took the lead minutes later after Chhangte provided the assist, his cross finding its way to an unmarked Adria Carmona at the far post and the substitute gleefully converted to make it 2-1.

Jamshedpur skipper Tiri sealed a point for his side by scoring the equaliser in the 72nd minute with a clinical header from a corner kick. Marcus Tebar deflected the corner towards the Spanish defender who converted the header into an attempt.

“I think we played a good first half. In the second half, we made a big mistake but we managed to get the equaliser. In the last few minutes of the match, my team was a bit tired. I am happy that we are still unbeaten and we got one point.  Now we have to look ahead,” said the former Atletico Madrid manager.

“We lost two points today. I am disappointed with the score. We were tired because two days ago we played a big match against Goa. Then we had to travel from Jamshedpur to Delhi. We had just one day of practice. In the end, however, it’s football. Still, I am happy with the one point that keeps us unbeaten.”

He further added, “We made one big mistake in defence. We cannot focus on one player. Defending is a task for the entire team. We defended very well I thought apart one big mistake which is football. We continue to work and try to be ready for the next match now.”
