As the start of the 2018/19 fifth season of Indian Super League approaches, we look at the top team’s preseason results.
Bengaluru FC have dominated the I-League for four seasons and reached the final of the Indian Super League (ISL) in their debut season.
They travelled to Spain for their preseason campaign, where they played four matches during August losing 1-2, 1-5, 0-1, 0-3 to Atletico Saguntino, Shabab Al Ahli Dubai FC, Villarreal B and Barcelona B respectively.
They will host Chennaiyin FC in their opening ISL game on September 30, 2018.
Jamshedpur FC lost out on a playoff spot in their debut ISL season before heading off to Spain where they are currently residing for the preseason.
So far they have defeated Torrelodones CF 1-0 before losing 0-3 to UD San Sebastián de Los Reyes.
They will take on Mumbai City in their first ISL match at the Mumbai Football Arena on October 2, 2018.
FC Pune City remained in Indian for their preseason training after they reached the ISL playoffs for the first time ever but lost out to Bengaluru FC in the semi-final.
They have since lost 2-0 to Salgaocar and face FC Goa on 6th September before they kick off their ISL tournament against the Delhi Dynamos in Delhi on October 3, 2018.
The Delhi Dynamos wrapped up the first leg of their preseason in Kolkata where they have won two matches against Taltala Dipti Sangha 3-0 and Peerless SC 4-0.
Last year’s winners Chennaiyin FC travelled to Malaysia. There they have played out a drawless match against Malaysia FA U-19s and the lost 2-3 to penalties after a 1-1 draw with Malaysian Indian Football Association (MIFA).
FC Goa is another Indian side that travelled to Spain for the preseason, where so far they have won both of their two games against Deportiva Minera and FC Cartagena.
Their first game of the new season is away to NorthEast United on October 1st.
ATK have had a great start to their preseason in Spain, defeating both Lorca FC and Real Murcia 1-0.
ATK will meet Kerala Blasters once again in the opening game of ISL 2018-19 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.
Meanwhile NorthEast United have defeated Guwahati Town Club 6-0.
