Conor McGregor, aged just twenty-nine years old and is the biggest name in the Ultimate Fighting Championship to date. He has dominated his sport with power, aggression, devastating and often brutal assaults on his opponents. He is the reigning UFC Lightweight Champion and former UFC Featherweight Champion. Check out the Mayweather v McGregor free bets here.
Soon he is to face one of the all-time boxing legends to ever step inside a ring. Floyd “Money” Mayweather, a man who has held belts in five weight divisions and to this date remains unbeaten with an impressive 49-0 record.
But let’s take a step back in time and look at Mayweather when he was just twenty-nine years old, some eleven years ago. At this stage of his career, Mayweather had fought thirty-six times without defeat, and had notched up wins over fighters such as Zab Judah, Sharmba Mitchell, Arturo Gatti and DeMarcus Corley. He had won the WBC and lineal super featherweight titles, WBC, and vacant The Ring and lineal lightweight titles. He had also won WBC super lightweight title and on April 8th, 2006 he had defeated Zab Judah in the Thomas & Mack Center, Paradise, Nevada, U.S with a Unanimous decision.
This victory meant he had won the IBF and vacant IBO welterweight title. Now compare this to Conor McGregor, who at age twenty-nine has lost three fights and has only had twenty-four fights, twelve times less than his opponent. So when you look at both fighters on level terms then Mayweather has by far the better record. Of course whatever has happened in the past shall remain there and come fight night, count for nothing.
As so many times in the past, records are only significant after the fight and if McGregor can do what so many have failed to do in the past, well Mayweather’s record will have taken one huge big dent.
August 26th, a date that if you don’t know what is happening, well you must be one of only a few people alive who is unaware of this enticing fight! Who are you backing, Mayweather or McGregor
