Constantine Announces 29-man Team For India Training Camps

India National coach Stephen Constantine has announced his 29-man team for training camp, ahead of the historic friendly with China on Saturday 13th October at the Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium.

The last encounter between these two countries was back in 1997 in the Nehru Cup in Kochi and this forthcoming match will be the first the teams have met on Chinese soil.

The 29-member squad will assemble in the Capital for the two-day camp in Nehru before leaving for China on the 10th October. A host of stars from the Hero ISL feature in the squad, including Sunil Chhetri, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and Jeje Lalpekhlua.

Thirteen U-23 players who were part of the Indian squad in the SAFF Suzuki 2018 Cup last month have also been called up by Constantine.

Constantine shared his thoughts on preparing for the forthcoming 2019 AFC Asian Cup in a media release from the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

“China are a strong team and the match will be a tough test for us. But we need to play these sort of games right now. Getting to play under pressure is important and an away fixture in China is exactly the kind of game we need. Hopefully, everyone stays free from injury as it’s going to be an important game for the build-up to the AFC Asian Cup in January,” he said.

The 29-member squad for the camp is as follows:

GOALKEEPERS: Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Vishal Kaith, Amrinder Singh, Karanjeet Singh.

DEFENDERS: Pritam Kotal, Sarthak Golui, Sandesh Jhingan, Anas Edathodika, Salam Ranjan Singh, Subhasish Bose, Narayan Das.

FORWARDS: Sunil Chhetri, Jeje Lalpekhlua, Balwant Singh, Sumeet Passi, Manvir Singh, Farukh Choudhary.
